Connick learned to play the piano at just 3 years old, and performed in a local jazz band in New Orleans at 10. His breakout came from his work in the soundtrack for the famous rom-com When Harry Met Sally as both composer and vocalist. The soundtrack went double-platinum in the United States and gave Connick his first Grammy for Best Jazz Male Vocal Performance. He also worked on the soundtracks of several other famous movies, including The Godfather III, The Mask, and Sleepless in Seattle. Connick has also performed on Broadway and released a Christmas album. Connick is also a renowned actor. He made his movie debut in Memphis Belle, where he played Sgt. Clay Busby. He played a fighter pilot in the hit movie Independence Day, but his first leading role came in 1996 with the movie Hope Floats, alongside Sandra Bullock. Following this, he starred in a variety of movies, ranging from thrillers, such as Basic and Bug, to romantic comedies, such as P.S I Love You and New in Town. Connick has guest starred in popular TV shows such as American Idol and Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. Connick is also famous for playing Leo Markus, Grace Adler’s love interest, in the Emmy-winning TV show Will & Grace.
