Marco Antonio Muñiz, better known by his stage name Marc Anthony, is an American singer, songwriter, actor, record executive, television producer and philanthropist. Anthony is also the top selling tropical salsa artist of all time.

Biography

Marc Anthony was born Marcos Antonio Muniz in New York City, September 16, 1968. His parents are of Puerto Rican descent. He grew up in the borough of East Harlem in New York City as the youngest of eight children. Marc learned music theory from his father who was a musician and a hospital cafeteria worker. They often sang for family and friends. Anthony was discovered by demo and commercial producer, David Harris. His debut album, When The Night is Over, appeared in 1991. He is the recipient of two Grammy Awards, four Latin Grammy Awards, twenty three Latin Billboard Awards, and is in the Guinness Book of World Records for Top Tropical Salsa Artist of all time selling over twelve million albums worldwide.

MARRIAGES

Marc Anthony has been married three times. He married super model, Danyanara Torres and four days after finalizing his divorce from her, he married Jennifer Lopez. After 7 years of marriage, they divorced. He is currently married to Shannon de Lima.

CHILDREN

Marc Anthony has 5 children. Ariana was his first child he had with a previous girlfriend. Cristian and Ryan were by Danyanara and Max and Emme, the twins, were with Jennifer Lopez.

CAREER

Marc Anthony began his career as a session vocalist for freestyle and Underground New York music acts. He worked as a songwriter. He was a back - up vocalist for Menudo. He wrote and produced freestyle artist Sa - Fire’s Boy I Been Told.

Music producer Little Louis Vega featured Marc on freestyle club hits like Ride on the Rhythm and Time. In 1992, Vega and Anthony opened for Tito Puente at New York Madison Square Garden. He then went on to work in various types and styles of Latin music.

Besides being the Top Tropical Salsa Artist and Pop super star, Anthony has appeared on Broadway, television and movies. He appeared in The Capeman on Broadway in 1998 and Westside Story as a vocal character. He has been in movies such as Man on Fire, Big Night, and Bringing Out the Dead. He has appeared on the TV series Hawthorne as a police detective and was a co-producer of Q Viva! The Chosen, a Latin talent show. In addition to his music and movie career, he has a line of luxury clothing that features at Kohl’s. He also has a minor share in ownership of the Miami Dolphins.

PHILANTHROPHY

In January of 2012, Marc Anthony and entrepreneur Henry Cardenas, started a non - profit foundation, Maestro Cares. The foundation addresses concerns regarding housing, academic, and health challenges facing orphans in developing Latin nations. In April 2014, Niño’s de Cristo in La Romana Dominican Republic opened, serving up to 120 children in need. In April 2015, Monsenor Victor Tomayo home opened in Barranquilla, Columbia. He joined the MABA project in Lima. Peru and in March 2015, he opened the Casa Hogar Alegria in Cactomacan, Mexico. Currently, the foundation is building Hogar San Miguel in Ponce, Puerto Rico for twenty boys with HIV/AIDS, ADHD and other learning disabilities. They are hoping to open in December 2016. The Foundation usually holds its annual fundraising gala in February of each year. Maestro Cares recently posted a commissioned movie to You Tube to address the eight million orphans who are hungry, homeless and helpless. These children are vulnerable to prostitution, drugs and gangs. Maestro Cares have been working on changing the quality of life for these children by building orphanages. It is an ongoing cause as there are many children that need help. 

MAGNUS MEDIA

In April of 2015, Marc Anthony announced the formation of Magnus Media. Based in Miami, Florida. This is a multi - media company that represents new talent, produces film and television programs, music publishing, artist management, a music label, digital content creation and a Sports Division (Magnus Sports) which will represent major athletes. He has signed with Grammy and Latin Grammy award winning producer, Sergio George, Real Madrid team captain Sergio Ramos and left back Marcelo Viera, and Cincinnati Red’s closer Aroldis Chapman.

THE VENUE

Marc Anthony will be performing at THE AXIS at Planet Hollywood. The theater was voted one of the best concert halls and theaters in Las Vegas and is the biggest venue on the strip. It has great views from any seat in the house. It is one of the most historic performing places left in Las Vegas. Originally, it was part of the Aladdin. Being it is on the strip, the venue is not far from shops and restaurants. There is a bar outside of the theater, in Planet Hollywood and two bars inside of the venue itself. Many people who have attended concerts here advise to get your drinks prior to going into the venue as it gets really crowded. No cameras with detachable lenses are allowed in the venue.

ONE NIGHT ONLY

Marc Anthony will be performing one night only, September 17, 2016 at The Axis at Planet Hollywood. Fans can expect an exciting, colorful and entertainment packed concert by the greatest Tropical Salsa artist of all time. Do not be surprised if he sings ballads from the old Latino greats as well as new collaborations with various artists. It may just be coincidence but, Jennifer Lopez has been in residency at this venue over the past year and Pit Bull will be performing in concert on September 15th and 16th 2016. Could we see some special appearances? There is no telling who may show up on the night… Hilary Clinton perhaps?
