Weekly “looking for three good men” and the Blackheart band was born.  Multiple people have worked with Joan since then and she continues to tour, record, sing, she is also a songwriter, actress and producer.  Joan is credited with started the Riot grrrl movement that began in the early 90’s in Washington DC, and the Pacific Northwest.  Riot grrrl was an underground feminist hardcore punk movement that is associated with third-wave feminism.  During her career Joan amassed several awards and accolades that include being listed on Rolling Stones greatest 100 guitarist of all time coming in at 87 and in 2014 she was awarded the AP Icon Award, just this year she was an inductee into the rock and Roll Hall of Fame class of 2015.
